WPI was noted in The Wall Street Journal as one of two universities whose graduates were among new hires at Moderna in the article, “Moderna Plans to Expand Production to Make Covid-19 Vaccine Boosters, Supply More Countries.” A company official described the hires as “a mix of people with experience in biotech manufacturing as well as fresh college graduates with engineering and chemistry degrees from nearby universities including Northeastern University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.”

Anonymous donor pledges $12M to WPI

The announcement of a $12 million dollar unrestricted gift to WPI by an anonymous donor was reported by the Telegram & Gazette.

First Woman To Earn Degree From WPI Crosses Stage 60 Years Later
  • Referring to her as “the first lady” of WPI, CBS Boston/WBZ-TV reported on 86-year-old Audrey Carlan ’57, who received an honorary doctoral degree during the university’s Graduate Ceremony yesterday, where nearly 800 master’s and doctoral degrees were awarded. Although she received the first degree awarded by WPI to any woman—15 years before the first female undergraduates were awarded degrees—she did not attend commencement because she was more than eight months pregnant.
